This type of bag doesn’t follow fashion, actually it transcends it. We like these bags just the way they are, they call on our attention because they are different, not because they are in vogue.
Perhaps, the most fitting definition is this: a bag can be described as peculiar when we exclaim: “I want it because it is calling to me, because it stands out among the rest”.
As regards handmade bags, the definition gets easier, because each one of them is unique, since it is the result of the craftsmanship of an artisan and not an assembly line. The latter always produces identical products, usually pretty anonymous even in the case of the most prestigious brands.
